Who We Are
About USTC
Care you can trust. Structure they need. A place where kids grow.
Our Mission
USTC Branch exists to give families in Providence a place they can rely on. We provide before and after school care that goes beyond supervision — combining academics, athletics, and character development into a daily experience that helps children thrive.
Every student in our program receives Taekwondo training as part of their daily routine. Through martial arts, team sports, and hands-on enrichment, we help young people develop the discipline, confidence, and sense of community that carries into every part of their lives.
Our Instructors
Instructor Mike — 2nd Degree Black Belt
Instructor Mike is a 2nd Degree Black Belt who began his martial arts journey as a young student at Master Park’s Taekwondo Program in Manchester, Connecticut, where he trained for many years and earned his 2nd Degree Black Belt. His lifelong experience in Taekwondo has helped shape his approach to teaching, emphasizing discipline, respect, and personal growth.
In addition to his martial arts background, Mike brings over five years of experience working in child care and youth development. Through his leadership and mentorship, he strives to create a structured, supportive environment where students can build confidence, develop strong character, and reach their full potential both on and off the mat.
Mike is also actively involved in the local community, working closely with Providence Public Schools to help provide students with positive enrichment opportunities through martial arts and structured after-school programming. His commitment to both education and martial arts allows him to make a meaningful impact in the lives of the students and families he serves.
Instructor Tae — 2nd Degree Black Belt
Instructor Tae is a 2nd Degree Black Belt who grew up training in Taekwondo alongside Instructor Mike. Together, they share a lifelong dedication to the art and a passion for mentoring the next generation of students. Instructor Tae further developed his skills through five years of training under Master Kye at AB Taekwondo in East Hartford, Connecticut, where he built a strong technical foundation and deep respect for traditional martial arts values.
He also gained valuable hands-on experience working alongside his brother at Premier Sport Taekwondo in Grafton, Massachusetts, where he played an active role in the summer camp program, helping lead structured activities, support student development, and create a positive, engaging environment for children. Through these experiences, Instructor Tae has developed a natural ability to connect with students of all ages and skill levels.
Known for his positive attitude, reliability, and strong work ethic, Instructor Tae takes pride in being a supportive mentor and role model. He genuinely enjoys working with children and is committed to helping each student grow in confidence, discipline, and respect both on and off the mat.
Instructor Dan — 2nd Degree Black Belt
Instructor Dan approaches each class with consistency and professionalism, working with students of all belt levels to support their focus and steady progress.
He is a graduate of Howon University in Korea and completed 1.5 years of military service in the Republic of Korea. He has over three years of child care experience at our USTC Cranston location and a strong foundation in Taekwondo. He is reliable, works well with others, and contributes to a structured and focused training environment.
